ABCNews models MJ's face

realjack.jpg I was thinking this just has to be fake, but it came from this abcnews.com article. This is evidently what Michael Jackson would look like if he had had no plastic surgery.

I'm thinking about this all and it just really bothers me. I mean, for more entirely separate reasons than I can count right now. There's Michael. There's Michael's denial of the problem. There's the press's irresponsible handling of it. There's the demand for the computer projection, there's the news site that publishes it... plus, the picture is actually a pretty bad picture of that particular imaginary person. Isn't there something inherently cruel about that? And where does racism play into this whole thing? The whole thing is just a complete fuck-up.

And then Mister Guilt comes along and asks pointedly, "Why are YOU posting about it, then, Curt? Huh? What do you think of THAT?" Then I smack Mister Guilt upside the head and tell him to go back to hell.

And yet, it does annoy me when something pretends to be meta and then doesn't follow through. Like the news shows that act like they are concerned with such-and-such, run through all the salacious details, and then never follow through with the compassion. Concern, my ass. False emotion, more like.

There is something important about this whole MJ drama, and the annoying part to me is that I can't quite put my finger on it. It is like a pattern is being run through. Denials feeding on denials. MJ sheltering himself and inviting bad experiences to him by not facing his problems, and predatory forces noticing that and feeding on it, which in turn confirms to MJ that he should shelter himself further, which the press interprets as validation for their approach and opinions. Neither of them are right, but the behavior of the pattern makes them believe they are. Posted by Curt at February 8, 2003 12:06 PM

I started to write something about Michael and the show, but I stopped because I found myself teetering on the edge of having compassion for him and then questioning, perhaps even judging him, at the same time. So, I decided not to write about it. I think his reality is far different from ours. Imagine being driven to achieve fame, never feeling good enough despite that, having those insecurities carry over into adulthood and encouraged because most of the people he came into contact with only wanted to know him because of his fame and fortune. No or little support from his family...the people who are supposed to love him for who he is..despite his faults. Perhaps this was why he came to equate children with innocence. All they associate with him is happiness, fun, and unconditional love. There is no greed or criticism or judgement from children. So Michael has chosen not to accept what it means to be an adult. To stay in a state a mind where the world is a happy place. To us, it signifies something to be concerned about. Perhaps we should be concerned, but not because we don't understand it. I actually felt that there was sincerity in his words when he said "the world needs more love". Deep down I don't want to believe he is a child molester. I wish he could be honest with himself and the public about his choices concerning his plastic surgery etc..but he doesn't have to be. In a way he encourages the public by denying it. He should just not do public interviews or he should tell us it's none of our business and move on. The part that concerned me was that he seems to need the adulation of others. The part of the show where he kept waiving the cameras away from him and to his fans. Is this because he wanted his fans adoration of him taped or because he didn't want the world to see how much he enjoyed it?

As for the media, it is obvious they are out to cater to public opinion which is why they focused on his interaction wtih children and his failed plastic surgery. How could MJ be so naive to believe that a reporter would not focus on those things. Again, it explains his state of mind which most adults can't relate to.

The media is a monster. We should all deprive ourselves of it a little more than we do. :)

great comments. it's nice to hear objective views. And my god, that age-progression picture is absolutely ridiculous. I don't know who that guy is, but it's not Michael Jackson, even if he didn't have any plastic surgery. Why would his clothing, hair, weight, make-up change just because his nose didn't (that's not what his original nose looked like anyway). Crap like that really annoys me. Suddenly because he didn't get a nose job, he's a Wal-Mart greeter? He'd still be eccentric, and he'd still be Michael Jackson. And Michael Jackson wouldn't be caught dead in that leather jacket. haha.

this picture annoyed me so much I made my own "what if" picture. check it out.

That is a fascinating picture. How did you do it?

Yeah true in some way, but his first nose surgery in 1979 was a necessity, remember he broke his nose during an onstage performance accident. So technically he we would look like the Michael Jackson of the Thriller period. Which makes your drawing inaccurate, and plus your drawing has his face looking fat, despite his nose surgery Michael would have still have fast in the 80s as a vegiterian and he would look a lot thinner than that photo.

"This is evidently what Michael Jackson would look like if he had had no plastic surgery. " Are you fucking kidding me.

1. He would be white because of his skin condition vitiligo.

2. He wouldn't look that young, he's 44 so next time make a real sketch instead of getting a crappy picture when he was 15 and drawing shitting little beards and hair on his face, it's just stupid.

3. That hair style is SO NOT michael jackson. Michael has had alot of bad surgery, but he does know what STYLE is.

4. His head shape, that picture is like 30 years old with some doodling on it. PEOPLE GROW AFTER THE AGE OF 15 FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!!!... His head would be alot thinner because he's a vegetarian and he's 44.

5. The first time he got plastic surgery was when he done that add with pepsi and done a little damage to his nose, so his nose would've looked different ANYWAY.

6. Who the fuck do you think you are in the first place, putting up STUPID ass picture, expected people to believe your lies and dragging them into hating him.

7. If Michael Jackson did NOT have plastic surgery, he would have the same skin colour, he would "kinda" have the same hair that he had in thriller. His nose would look like the nose he had in "Off The Wall" and he would have no facial hair (because he never does and barely goes out in public with it). He would be a bit thinner, and would have some lil rinkles on his face due to the fact he's FORTY-FOUR (not 18 like that picture looks).
