Chomsky And Zinn On Tolkien

McSweeney's Internet Tendency: Unused Audio Commentary By Howard Zinn & Noam Chomsky, Recorded Summer, 2002, for The Fellowship of the Ring Platinum Series Extended Edition DVD, Part One

This is great. Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn's audio commentary for Fellowship Of The Ring.

I love Tolkien. I rather like Zinn's history books, and I honestly can't get through one of Chomsky's run-on sniping self-confirming sentences without wanting to slam my head into a wall...

I don't know if you're attacking chomsky or not, but I'd just like to point out that aside from being a leftist-anarchist and anti-war advocate, he's a linuist. He's been studying language for a LONG time. So if you don't like his sentences... you're probably the one to blame :)

I love LOTR. They were my favourite books as a child, and I still love them and the films. I still have a respect for Tolkien as a historian, mythologist and linguist.
