The Internet Saves The Day... Again

Man, I love the internet. Every once in a while something happens that is just a completely obvious display of how much better it makes things. It's Friday night, and I'm taking it easy, sort of beat up from a couple of weeks of high activity. I put a frozen pizza in the oven and cooked it, and then all of a sudden, after checking it for the fourth time, seeing it mostly cooked, I realized that the oven wasn't closing anymore. The lock latch - for when you clean the oven - was engaged, while the oven door was open. I couldn't heat the oven back up, and I couldn't disengage the lock, because it's one of those newer ovens with only pushbuttons, no levers.

That's enough to ruin a Friday night - it was stuck in Clean mode even though the heat wasn't on, and I didn't know what that meant, or if it was okay to just leave it open.

So, one "oven blinking lock light" google search later, and I come to this page, of a discussion from someone who had the exact same weird problem I had, with a repair technician replying just because he had nothing better to do, on how to fix it - trick the oven door into thinking it's closed, put it in Clean mode for ten seconds with the door OPEN, and then turn it off again. Worked like a charm. Wouldn't have thought of it myself. My oven is happy again and I'm still able to have a stress-free Friday night. That just wouldn't have been possible without the internet. I know, small thing, but I just really felt like I couldn't have anything go wrong tonight, so it was a big relief to me.
