Saddam Captured

Thank God our military gave us a little bit less mess to clean up after Bush is voted out of office. Posted by Curt at December 14, 2003 08:38 PM

Curt,
I think you are too optimistic about Bush. While I am glad that Husein was captured alive and all that, I am also a bit let down because I know this can only mean a second term for Bush.

Yeah, it certainly makes you wonder. But we'll see. I think it could lead to a weird rebound effect as people realize that capturing Hussein didn't exactly make America any safer. Just the same way that capturing Osama won't exactly end terrorists wanting to bomb America.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing. The problem with all the press is that it insinuates that the capture of Saddam Hussein was critical in the playout of the ongoing operation in Iraq. The guy was living in a hole in the ground with a pistol -- I'm not convinced that he was anything of a problem to us or the Iraqi people once he'd fled the capitol. He's been made a figurehead of terror by the administration for political gain.
